Value Based Assessment

    PruceConsulting provides consultancy services to a range of companies from the pharmaceutical industry to innovative technology companies to community pharmacy.  We advise on a range of issues such as how to approach NICE appraisals; national and international policy and regulation.

    The Director of PruceConsulting is David Pruce. David is a pharmacist and a former Director of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.  He has a wealth of experience of developing and influencing health policy at a national level.  His understanding of how health policy affects both the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacy as a profession is recognised worldwide.  He has worked extensively with NICE, MHRA and other healthcare bodies including a number of medical Royal Colleges.  David regularly meets with senior politicians, civil servants and policy makers and has excellent insight into the current health policy thinking.

    David's achievements include:
    • Developed evidence based policy positions on a wide range of issues such as medication safety; prescription charges; realising the potential of pharmacy; Darzi review
    • Given verbal and written evidence to the Health Select Committee, House of Lords Europe Committee and a number of government inquiries 
    • Developed the Internet Pharmacy Logo to distinguish between genuine internet pharmacies and dangerous fake internet pharmacies (see further details Internet Pharmacy Logo)
    • Member of two NICE committees 
    • Chair of National Collaborating Centre for Primary Care (commissioned by NICE to produce clinical guidelines)
    • Member of the Royal College of Physicians working party on physicians and the pharmaceutical industry (see report Innovating for health: Patients, physicians, the pharmaceutical industry and the NHS)
    • Commissioned by Smith Institute to write a paper for a policy book Health Innovations: More for less in healthcare
